RAINBOW SUNSHINE

Festivals…! Celebration…!
Even the mere words sound so full of life. And in literal term, they do exactly that; bring LIFE to our so called ‘lives’. It’s always rejoicing to celebrate these joyous occasions with our friends & families around. The rejuvenation brought up by them fuels our enthusiasm and propel us to thrive towards our dreams. But amidst all this polish; there remains a disheartening reality. The truth of the millions around who are underprivileged; particularly, the ones who are bereaved of their parents, the ones who were abandoned by their families; the lone souls who deserve to be accompanied along.
On this auspicious day of merry making, the festival of colours HOLI! , Our group ‘AnantAman Social Welfare Society’ decided to infuse joy into the lives of these kids with a splash of colours. To add colours to their otherwise achromic world, the members & volunteers, filled with joviality, went to ‘Premraj Seva Samiti’ - an orphanage in the vicinity of SuryaDev Nagar.
While approaching down the road; I could descry innocent kids, some standing at the façade of the building, some on the stairs, while others on the terrace. Filled with zeal & a tankful of enthusiasm, eager to play the colours.
As we entered the orphanage premises, the children lit up with the shades of glitter in their eyes & wore a million dollar smile on their bright faces. The greeting “Happy Holi” in unison enchanted the atmosphere. The scenario there left us enthralled by the warmth of welcome dipped in innocence, in spite of the irredeemable vacuity in their life.
In order to mingle well with them, we gathered on the terrace. The tents setup by us shaded from the burning Sun. We opted for an eco-friendly Holi celebration avoiding water misuse. With different hues of herbal Gulaal, we tried enriching their arid life with colours. As soon as we had the colours out, there was a sudden alacrity in children hither & thither. The little palms – seeking for a helping hand to hold them - with a handful of colours just came by to beautify us with the rainbow of ecstasy. It felt like family, not stranger anymore. An ambience of gaiety was created and everyone was enjoying the festival of colours. They had appreciable demeanour and were full of etiquettes. They chanted a few prayers before diving into the act of eating. Though less fortunate, but they understand that someone’s watching over them right from the sky. Past the festive meal, colours felt even livelier and everyone enjoyed every bit of it.
Playing Holi with them was a euphoria that left me in a lovely nostalgia; where I would like to be again & again. We discovered a new satisfaction by bringing smiles on the faces of many. Though their loss is completely immutable, but we tried our bit to efface it by pouring down colours of happiness into their lives. The very act of benevolence makes you feel sanctified deep in your heart, right from inside. It’s just one of the many inchoative steps by our NGO towards the upliftment of secluded part of the society. Spreading smiles to those who deserve it more than anyone else, nurturing ample happiness in the life of the benighted children; all these definitely appease your soul to the core.
I hope we make a difference to their lives and build a better tomorrow for them.

A LIST WHICH SAVED MANY LIVES

Guten Morgan!

Salut! To the great director “Steven Spielberg” for the epic documentary “Schindler’s list”, starring Liam Neeson as Schindler & ben Kingsley as Itzhak stern.
I’ve just watched such an epic piece. The movie encircled around the life of Oskar Schindler, a Nazi member  & a very adept moneymaking businessman, he the saviour of 1000+ Jewish refugees of Poland during the Ghetto massacre, by employing them as worker in his factories. Germans, the cruel misanthropes, brutally killed millions of Jews under command of a lieutenant Amon Goeth at Ghetto. Many Jews were shot & killed in the process of emptying the Ghetto in world war-2
The munificent, Schindler (Herr Direktor) has a skilled Jewish accountant-Itzhak stern. Oskar hires Jewish refugee workers at his industry “pan & pot” because they cost less & that’s the way to convert labour into huge money. But as time passes, as he watched the brutal holocaust, his focus shifts from building heaps of the German Reichsmark (deutsche currency) to trying to save as many lives as possible. Here’s a conversation between Oskar & Amon from the movie -

“Oskar Schindler: Power is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't.
Amon Goeth: You think that's power?
Oskar Schindler: That's what the Emperor said. A man steals something, he's brought in before the Emperor, he throws himself down on the ground. He begs for his life, he knows he's going to die. And the Emperor... pardons him. This worthless man, he lets him go.
Amon Goeth: I think you are drunk.
Oskar Schindler: That's power, Amon. That is power.”

This benevolent person chaffered the benighted Jews by bribing Amon Goeth with huge amount. Oskar & his accountant create a list sobriquet as “Schindler’s list”, a list of Jewish people to be transferred to a safer place so as to put a cul-de-sac to the draconian inhuman activity. He added around 1000 names in his list & them, all listed one, were moved to Oskar’s hometown. To keep his worker alive, he was squandering his fortune bribing Nazi officials. He ran out of money just as Germany surrenders, when world war-2 came to an end. All Jews were set free by soviet army & shifted to Poland. When Oskar about to leave the workers, they gave him a ring engraved with the quote,
"Whoever saves one life saves the world entire"

So this is how a great philanthropist was… R.E.S.P.E.C.T. to “OSKAR SCHINDER “or                                                                   “HERR DIREKTOR” or “GOOD GERMAN”

“There are fewer than 4000 Jews left alive in Poland today”
“There are more than 6000 descendants of the Schindler Jews”
“More than 6 million Jews murdered”

Au Revoir!!
